William's mother (aka Spike's mother) was turned into a vampire by William himself not long after he was sired. He sired her because he wanted to cure her of her disease which she was suffering from. He did, but the demon inside took hold and changed her personality to something William did not like and was forced to stake her.

Season7 Episode 17 'Lies my parents told me' Although we are never actually told his mothers name - the script for this episode has her called Anne - So there you have it! I have no info on who his father is though.

When William was a baby she used to sing to him a song called, Early One morning, an old folk tune.

We meet Spike's mother in Season 7 Episode 17, when we are seeing flashbacks to 1880, when Spike became a Vampire. His mother is very devoted To young William, as he is to her. He cares for her as she is unwell, sufferring from tuberculosis. Although he has earnt the nickname of "William The Bloody" on account of his Bloody Awful Poetry, his mother still listens to it intently.

Spike was so committed to his mother, that when he became a vampire , he wanted to help her escape her illness, to grant her to enjoy eternal life as well.

It wasn't to be though, as soon as she realised she had been given eternal life, she let poor William have it. She let him know that there was no way that she would want to spend an eternity with such a whinging whining,brat tugging on her apron strings.

Like a parasite.
And that, all you ever wanted was to be back inside.
And you finally got your wish, didn't you?
Sank your teeth into me, an eternal kiss...

Spike was so hurt by what his mother said to him that he staked her. It hurt him so deeply that the First was able to use the pain spike felt as a way of controlling him. The First Evil used the song that Anne used to sing to Spike as a way of Triggering his Vampiric Behaviour.

Spike : I'll Tell you a story. 'Bout a mother and a son. Like you, I loved my mum.So much so, I turned her into a vampire so we could be together forever. (song starts in BG) She said some nasty bits to me after I did that. Been weighing on me for quite some time...
He paces, thinking it through.

But you helped me figure something out. You see, unlike you, I had a mother who loved me back. When I sired her, I set loose a demon and it tore into me... but that was the demon talking, not her. I realize that now. (pause)
My mum loved me with all her heart. I was her world.
That's a nice little song you got there. Thanks, doc. You cured me after all. I got my own free will now. I'm not under The First's or anyone else's influences now. I just wanted you to know that!
(he then either beats woods/ or Vamp Face? sorry I dont have it on tape!)
